ENGLISH INSTRUCTIONS
Oulu, together with 39 northern Finnish municipalities and cities united by a common history and future, will be the European capital of culture in 2026.
We are collaborating with Oulu2026 by creating a mural-series into the region between 2022 and 2026. The open call searches for an artist to realize a unique mural in 2024. Residents of Oulu have an opportunity to participate, as they will choose the locations for the murals in an annual vote. First residential vote was won by Rajakylä, which will be the location of the realization for 2022, the second Tuira for 2023 and the third Myllyoja for 2024. Inhabitants of the area had the opportunity to share their stories and memories, which the selected artist can use as a basis for their design work and the realization.
The selected artist will receive an invitation to Oulu during summer 2024 and awarded 10 000 € plus expenses for the realization of the artwork. Oulu, yhdessä 39:n yhteisen historian sekä tulevaisuuden yhdistämän pohjoisen Suomen kunnan ja kaupungin kanssa, on Euroopan kulttuuripääkaupunki vuonna 2026.
Toteutamme yhteistyössä Oulu2026:n kanssa vuosien 2022–2026 aikana viiden seinämaalauksen teossarjan. Toteutettavien taideteosten toteutuspaikoista järjestetään vuosittain yleisöäänestys, joista ensimmäisen voitti muhkealla äänimäärällä Rajakylä, toisen Tuira ja kolmannen Myllyoja. Yleisöäänestykseen osallistuneet saivat äänestyksen yhteydessä kertoa myös asuinalueeseen liittyviä muistoja ja tarinoita, joita Ouluun kutsuttava taiteilija voi myöhemmin käyttää teossuunnittelun pohjana.
Ouluun kutsuttavalle taiteilijalle maksetaan kulujen lisäksi 10 000 €:n korvaus taideteoksen toteuttamisesta. Taiteilijat voivat osallistua avoimeen portfoliohakuun täyttämällä alapuolelta löytyvän osallistumislomakkeen. Tarkat ohjeet ja säännöt on ladattavissa alta löytyvästä linkistä.
